Plugins that require root access

In general, the Netprobe should be run as a regular user on your platform. However, there are plugins in Geneos that require the Netprobe to run with root permission on Unix or as local administrator on Windows to run properly. Plugin | Details |

Network | Root access in Linux is required only if the network card speed and duplex state metrics cannot be retrieved. For more information, see the Network plugin. |
Hardware | Root access is required only for the vendor metric. Otherwise, “NA” is displayed. This metric is only available for Linux, but not other Unix platforms. For more information, see the Hardware plugin. |
Trapmon | Only requires root access if the sampler uses the default SNMP port. For more information, see the SNMP Trapmon plugin. |
