Active console - Why can't I connect Express Reports to my MS SQL server named instance

Ensure you connect via port rather named instance

Express Reports Configure the datasource in the GSE Name: Options: SQLServer Server Name: Database name: Port: Authentication: User name: Password:

By default named instances will be set to use dynamic ports. This means when the SQL Server restarts it can start on a different port. This will cause connections to fail, so best to set the instance to use a specific port
