Do We Open Firewall To or From External Netprobe?
Related to Copied
For a SAN (Self-Announcing Netprobe), you typically only need to open the firewall from the external server to the Gateway. However, for a normal Netprobe, you generally need to open the firewall both ways, from the external server to the Gateway and from the Gateway back to the external server.
Question Copied
We have Geneos gateway server behind firewall and not accessible from external machine. We have to monitor the one of server which is outside firewall, so we have setup netprobe and collection agent on external server. To have connectivity between external server and Gateway, we need to open firewall rule. So do we need to open firewall:
- From external server to Gateway or?
- From Gateway to external server or?
- Both ways?
Answer Copied
- If you are using SAN (Self-Announcing Netprobe), it is number 1. From external server to Gateway, but if you are using normal netprobe it should be number 3. Both ways.
