How to monitor a local file in HTML/XML format on the Netprobe using the Extractor plugin?
The Extractor plugin allows files to be used as a source in Netprobe version GA3.1.2 (PLI-1749) and above. There is a Source File Name option from the drop-down box which can be used to monitor a local file on the Netprobe. This is an alternative method to the Sampler Data Transfer option, which gets data from a Web-Mon plugin. Please note that each Extractor sampler supports one source/file only.
When the Source File Name option is selected, user can specify the filename (and path) which should be present on the Netprobe machine. Users can configure the options in the Views section to specify how the Extractor plugin should parse the source file based on the HTML or XML tags present. The Extractor plugin is able to create headline and table cells on the Active Console. The specification can be found in the Extractor Plug-in User Guide.
We have used the Geneos Web Dashboard configuration file (config.xml) as an example.
- The Default Settings view displays the options in headline and table cells based on information inside the
<dashboardDefaults>tags.
- The Gateway Connections view lists out the configured gateways in a table format based on information inside the
<gatewayConnections>tags.
- The Dashboard Files view contains the list of dashboard files under the
<dashboards>tags.
- The Dashboard Groups view includes the dashboards that are configured under folders.
