How to get an RSS feed in to Geneos
You can use webmon plugin with extractor plugin.
Attached in this article is an include which will extract and structure items from any RSS feed, provided they follow the standard /rss/channel/item template.
Using the links it will build a matrix using extracted column names and cells from any subset provided in each item. For those feeds that provide a live link to the article, you can use the knowledgebase link to right click and go to the news in your browser.
Included is a finished set for BBC News showing how to set up the WebMon with a stage extraction and a default Extractor. Copy this last one for each site and change the stream and view name accordingly. No more changes needed.
This has been tested on a number of RSS feeds and gives an insight into how to use the extractor to read html/xml tags and insert into metrics.
