Recurring downtime
Recurring downtime lets you schedule maintenance windows that repeat automatically, so you do not need to create a new downtime entry each time.
Unlike scheduled downtime, which is a one-off window, recurring downtime continues across cycles and automatically creates active downtime windows based on the recurrence pattern you configure.
Common use cases include nightly backup windows, weekly patching schedules, and monthly maintenance slots. Navigate to Monitoring > Recurring Downtime and select the Recurring Downtime tab.
Prerequisites Copied
You need the following permissions to work with recurring downtime:
- To view recurring downtime:
VIEWALLorVIEWSOMEfor the objects in the recurring downtime, or theADMINACCESSrole. - To create, edit, or delete recurring downtime:
DOWNTIMESOME.
Note
You can only see a recurring downtime if you have access to all the objects it covers. If you cannot see an expected recurring downtime, please contact your administrator to check your role permissions.
Read-only users (View only) can see the list but the Add button is not shown.
Key concepts Copied
- Name — a label for the recurring schedule.
- Duration — length of each triggered downtime window.
- Start date — date and time from which the recurrence begins.
- End date — optional; no further windows are created after this date.
- Recurrence type — how often the downtime repeats: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
- Recurrence interval — gap between occurrences, for example every 2 weeks.
- Pattern — for Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly types, the specific days or months within each interval.
Notes and limitations Copied
- End date is date-only, so the recurrence stops after midnight on that date.
- Duration has a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 365 days.
- Recurring downtime windows are scheduled on an hourly cadence, so allow up to 60 minutes for a new or edited schedule to take effect.
- Deleting a recurring downtime does not cancel any currently active downtime window it has already triggered. To cancel an active window, see Viewing and canceling downtimes.
- All recurring downtime actions are recorded in the audit log.
