Collector

Collectors are distributed monitoring hosts that:

• run service checks
• receive service check results
• report service check results to the orchestrator.

Collectors help share the monitoring load and, through clustering, provide monitoring resilience.

Collectors can be placed throughout your environment, monitoring hosts that would otherwise be inaccessible. By placing collectors in the same networks and data centers as their monitored hosts, you can reduce the required configuration and improve security by reducing complexity.
