QueueSizeMonitor, reducing the transfer rate

If you are seeing this in your Logs

WARN: QueueSizeMonitor Total Queue Data Size has breached a low-priority threshold of 250.000 MB. Throttling reads from importing connections.

This implies that the Gateway is optimizing data transfer by reducing the rate between itself and importing Gateways, prioritizing data transfer between its Netprobes and Active Consoles. This adjustment is triggered when the Exporting Gateway (the reported Gateway in our case) experiences high workload. To address this, it is suggested to limit the number of synchronized or exported dataviews.

The current recommendation is to reevaluate the monitoring estate and fine-tune it for optimal performance. The tools and documentation provided below will assist you in this process.

Managing Load in Geneos

The main idea is to monitor only by exception (meaning, only the important ones) and not everything.

Gateway-gatewayLoad plugin

The Gateway Load Monitoring feature provides various statistics about the runtime state of a Gateway. These statistics include processing times spent in various features and can be viewed using configured instances of the load monitoring plug-in.

Gateway-probeData

This plugin contains select data quality statistics applicable to probes. Metrics like maxDataAge, dataAgeLimit, totalDataSize, readThrottlingStatus would be helpful to identify problematic and overloaded probes.

Ultimately, you might need to split the monitoring into 2 gateways Copied
