Active Console - How to Prevent Active Console from Creating Unnecessary Recovery Files
Problem Copied
Active Console is producing multiple recovery files every day, even though the system hasn’t crashed. We’re looking into why these are being created unnecessarily
Possible cause(s) Copied
- Root Cause: Autosave Period may be set to a value.
Answer/Solution Copied
These “recovered” workspace files are typically Active Console auto-save/recovery files, not evidence that Active Console is crashing.
Active Console has an Auto saving and recovery feature that periodically writes temporary workspace files into the same directory as your .aws workspace. The filenames look like:
~<day>.<hour>.<minute>.
~~<workspace>.aws. If Active Console doesn’t shut down “cleanly”, the next launch may treat the last autosave as a recovered file, and you’ll see these accumulate.

Solution Root Cause: Go to Tools > Settings > General > Persistence, then remove or set the autosave period to zero.
