Rejected with message 'Not the first Gateway. Master Gateway name is <hostname>. Connected from <hostname>
| - Netprobe is a major component of Geneos monitoring system. It is responsible for collecting data and monitoring information from various sources, such as servers, devices, and applications. - Gateway is the one that receives monitoring data from Netprobe and manages the distribution of this data to other components like samplers. |
The Message “Rejected with message ‘Not the first Gateway” indicates that when attempting to connect a Netprobe to a Gateway, the connection was rejected due to a specific reason, which is further described as “Not the first Gateway”. This means that the Netprobe you’re trying to connect is already configured to connect to a different Gateway.
Take note: The key point here is that a single Netprobe can only establish a connection to one Gateway at any given time.
To Troubleshoot:
- Check the Configuration and ensure that the Netprobe’s configuration points to the correct Gateway’s address and port.
- If the Netprobe is already connected to a Gateway but you want to move it to a different one, you should disconnect the Netprobe from the current Gateway first.
- Update the Netprobe’s configuration to point to the new Gateway you want to connect to.
- Restart the Netprobe for the changes to take effect.
