OS - OpenStack - Nova Opspack (Deprecated)

Deprecation Notice

This Opspack is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. It may not be present in your installation of Opsview.

OpenStack is an open source software platform for cloud computing and mostly deployed as an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). The main initiative of OpenStack is to create and manage large groups of virtual private servers in a data center via web-based dashboards, command-line tools, or a RESTful API. OpenStack supports compatibility between cloud services and enable businesses to build Amazon-like cloud services in their own data centers. Freely available under the Apache 2.0 license, OpenStack is commonly labeled as the “Linux of the Cloud".

Nova, OpenStack’s Compute service, is used for hosting and managing cloud computing systems. It is a component-based architecture enabling quicker additions of new features.

What You Can Monitor Copied

Opsview Monitor’s Nova Opspack helps you create an overall view into your environment. The Nova Opspack provides service checks that show all servers running in Nova and the current status for them. The check for ‘all servers’ returns as a performance metric for the total number of servers configured in Nova, which is useful for capacity planning and tracking down issues. It is not uncommon to see virtual machine performance drop when a lot of instances are running. The status check lets you ensure your important instances are always active.
