Monitor host groups and service groups
Overview
You can perform various actions on your host groups and service groups from the monitoring views. You can perform actions on all objects associated with the current object, such as hosts in a host group or services associated with hosts in your host group, and also on multiple objects of the same type, as described in Multiple actions in Introduction to monitoring hosts, services, and groups. The table below summarises the actions you can perform on a host group or service group.
Host group and service group actions

Enable active host checks | Enable checks for all active hosts in the group. |
Disable active host checks | Disable checks for all active hosts in the group. |
Enable host notifications | Enable notifications for all the hosts in the group. |
Disable host notifications | Disable notifications for all the hosts in the group. |
Enable active service checks | Enable checks for all active services in the group. |
Disable active service checks | Disable checks for all active services in the group. |
Enable service notifications | Enable notifications for all the services in the group. |
Disable service notifications | Disable notifications for all the services in the group. |

View and perform actions on host groups and service groups
Open a host group or service group view
- Open the Monitor menu, then select the view you want to monitor under the Hostgroups or Servicegroups menu entry, for example Hostgroups > All Hostgroups.
- From the host group or service group list view, you can now perform the following:
- Go to the list view of all hosts or services in the group, by clicking the group name. For more information, see Open a host or service view in Monitor hosts and services.
- Go to the list view of all hosts or services with a specific status, by clicking a status icon in the Host Status Summary column or Service Status Summary column. For more information, see Open a host or service view in Monitor hosts and services.
- Perform multiple actions on a list of objects. For more information, see Multiple actions in Introduction to monitoring hosts, services, and groups.
- Go to the group detail page by clicking the Actions icon next to a group. For more information, see Group detail page.
Group detail page
The group detail page gives you a detailed overview of the current host group or service group and access to all the actions available for the group:
From a host or service group detail page, you can perform the following:
- Go to host and service list views. For more information, see Open a host or service view.
- Go to host and service detail pages. For more information, see Host or service detail page in Monitor hosts and services.
- Use the Options menu to configure and perform actions on the group:
- Configuration > Configure takes you to the host group or service group configuration page. For more information, see Configure a host or service group in Manage hosts and services.
- Host Operations and Service Operations list the actions you can perform on host groups and service groups. For more information, see Host group and service group actions.
- Actions allows you to schedule downtime for the hosts or services in the group. For more information, see Schedule downtime in Problem responses.
