How to monitor Mainframes like IBM AS/400

AS/400, iSeries, System i, IBM i, zSeries, IBM Z

Solution Copied

While Geneos currently does not have a Netprobe that runs on IBM mainframe computers, there are various options monitoring these systems remotely from another Netprobe.

iSeries / AS/400 / IBM i Copied

Geneos can monitor the IBM i remotely using the JTOpen library, which is the open-source version of the IBM Toolbox for Java, and is a library of Java classes that allows access to IBM i resources. The JTOpen library is included with the Linux version of the Netprobe.

Please check out the documentation links in the appendix below.

zSeries and other systems Copied

Users may check with their system administrators on what APIs and protocols (e.g. SNMP, HTTP, etc.) are available on the target operating systems and applications. Although Geneos has not bundled solutions for the specific systems, these may be monitored remotely with generic plugins (e.g. Toolkit, MIB-Mon, Web-Mon, XML-RPC API, REST-API, REST-Extractor, etc.).

We have provided links to our plugin documentations below. Users may customize a solution depending on their environment.
